Vercel lets agents subscribe to live infrastructure events

The agent now wakes up when the system changes, with no human prompt. That gap, between trigger and outcome, is the design surface. A human needs to see what fired, what ran, and what it changed.

Machine summary of the source

Vercel has added event subscriptions to its Connect feature, now in public beta. Agents can receive push notifications from infrastructure, such as deployment completions or failures, without polling. This is a meaningful shift: the agent reacts to the system rather than waiting to be called.

Previously, agents using the Model Context Protocol, a standard for connecting AI models to external services, could only respond to direct requests. The new capability lets an agent wake up and act when something happens in Vercel's infrastructure. Developers authenticate with an API key and register listeners in the Vercel SDK. The infrastructure then pushes events to the agent as they occur.

For teams building agent products, this changes the design question. You are no longer designing for a request-response loop. You are designing for an agent that wakes up on its own, acts, and finishes, with no human prompt to start the cycle. That raises real questions about visibility: how does a human know the agent fired, what it did, and whether to step in.
